Current car is a 2016 civic ex with the naturally aspirated engine that I had passed on from my sister. Have plenty of fun with it as it is but have had thoughts on modding it to be more engaging/fun and not get completely left behind some other cars. Not expecting it to become a speed demon at all but just something to enjoy a little more. Would it be an oxymoron putting money into the car for whatever gains I could get out of it and better to just bite the bullet on a new car to scratch the itch when the right chance comes? My brother will be driving on his own next year so I would either pass it down to him if I get a new car or look for a reasonably priced used car to pay off right away he could have for himself (suggestions for other cars accepted) appreciate any help/advice on this

ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4 motherboard, and am connecting the
LG UltfaFine 5K 27MD5KA-B via the
ASUS' own ThunderboltEX 4 card to work with Windows 11, version 10.0.22000.1098. The card is installed in the PCIe slot indicated by the motherboard manual. There are two additional internal cable connections necessary for this card: a proprietary Thunderbolt connector, and a typical 9-pin dual USB 2.0 header. There's also an optional 6-pin power connector, but it required only for PD, per the manual, so I'm leaving it unconnected. Everything seems fine, I'm feeding the display from two DP1.4 ports of an NVIDIA card and am getting its full 5K resolution. The USB-C hub in the monitor also works, with either USB 3.0 USB-C connector thumb drive or, via an external hub, USB 2.0 devices, like keyboard or mouse.
The only issue is the LG's display control utility does not work—and the monitor has no physical controls!
The Device Manager shows two USB devices that fail to start, one in the monitor, and another appearing when USB2.0 cable from the TB card is connected to the mobo connector. Attempting to boot with the cable disconnected results in a boot failure, even with another monitor connected to the NVIDIA card directly with a DP cable nothing ever shown on screen, only the mobo status LED blinking fast then slow then fast again, then slow, in a never endings loop. Normal sequence is fast, slow, solid.

The TB failed device is near the bottom of the screenshot. The name is shown as "Unknown USB device" and the error text is "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed."
Device Instance Path property is USB\VID_0000&PID_0002\6&1AC4990D&0&2, which suggests it is a generic USB host controller. (In the TB card? Why a controller is plugged into a hub port???)
Inf Name property is indeed "usb.inf"
Another device plugged into the mobo port right next to the failing one is a WiFi x1 card, with a USB2.0 connection for Bluetooth. Swapping connections does not help, but indicates that both connectors on the mobo are functional.
The "Thunderbolt Controller - 1137", 4th from the top, identifies as PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1137&SUBSYS_87F61043&REV_00.
A Google search for VID_043E&PID_9A40 leads to a GitHub repository with a brightness control utility for LG monitors. In one of the issues, the dev asked to confirm that the USB 2.0 cable is correctly connected, which hints that the issues are likely related.
I would appreciate any insights into the issue.
For the 2nd straight year a FedEx driver has destroyed my storm door hinges by opening the door, stuffing a package that didn't fit which left the door open for the wind to catch and mangle the hinges. At least this time it didn't completely destroy the wood of the door frame, unlike last year where he exploded my frame into shards. Thanks FedEx! Please just leave it on the damned porch next time.
