Hi all,
I've been using Logitech Options+ with my MX Master 3 and the newer MX Master 3S. I used to have different settings for Firefox and VS Code but it seems that at some point Options+ stopped recognizing both programs as different applications and I can not set different button bindings for each, which is rather annoying.
Is this a widespread issue? Can anybody provide some hints on how to solve this?

Unfortunately, I don't have the time to game these days. I just use my computer for work (word processing) and internet browsing on Firefox (youtube, reddit).
I have an XPS 13 9310 with an OLED display. When I enable "Use HDR" in the Windows 11 setting, the whole screen gets much whiter (or maybe more blue) as if it's washed out with white. I couldn't tell if I liked the colors. I think whites might look slightly more accurate, but blacks seem less deep because everything is just brighter.
If you'd be so kind, I have several questions. Clearly I'm a novice at this and I'd appreciate any guidance. I googled this question and not much information is available. It seemed to apply that you only see a difference in games and certain HDR videos, but that cannot be right because I see an immediate difference in Windows 11. Everything is slightly brighter, less red, and more blue.

What's the main advantage of enabling "Use HDR" in Windows 11 for non-gamers?
Are there any disadvantages for non-gamers?
Does it matter that I have an OLED panel?
What effect does "Use HDR" have on just mousing around windows and using programs like Microsoft Word
Does "Use HDR" effect the appearance of the average youtube video
I'm amazed that according to Netflix's website you only get HDR videos if you're using Microsoft Edge
Are other websites like Netflix (maybe youtube or HBO, etc)?
Any other suggestions or pieces of advice about HDR?

I climbed into the cab of Larry’s work van, the two of us riding in silence for the first few minutes as we left the neighborhood and pulled onto the interstate. We were heading south, to Wilmington.
“You see that crap?” Larry tapped my shoulder and then pointed past the lanes of oncoming traffic.
My gaze followed his hand and I looked across the empty interstate. “Yeah- spotlights. What’s going on over there? Do they think those will help with searching for the cloaked alien spacecraft?”
“They’re cloaked? What, like outta’ star trek?” He asked, pulling the steering wheel over to the right and getting the lumbering van to follow suit. He took the off-ramp and rode our momentum to the top, giving us a view down the ‘main’ street, where they’d leveled a couple office buildings to make way for a new park- and right in the front of it was an enormous new plaza, with some sort of statue-
What the hell was that?
It was a carefully manicured hand, huge and purple, rising up from the center of the platform and reaching toward a representation of Earth, floating just within its grasp. The globe was slowly spinning, and the fingers looked like they could clutch around the planet at any moment.
What was this even meant to represent? Did they think it would come off like a Shil’vati hand nurturing and protecting Earth? Cradling our world like a baby bird safe in their palm? No, the angle was all wrong for that. Any way I looked at it, I couldn’t see it as anything but what it was - a message saying our planet was theirs. A monument to our subjugation.
”Jesus…” I muttered. “Do you think they know?”
“Either they do, and they don’t care, or they didn’t notice and the architect somehow snuck it past them.”
The retaining pool even bore more than a vague resemblance to the craters left by orbital strikes, and the longer I stared at it, the more certain I was.
“That…” I said slowly, “That has to be- this whole thing has to be deliberate. Bait, right?”
Larry shrugged. “Just wanted you to see it is all. Brand new, went up from some unfinished construction site dirt to that, in less than a day.”
“A day?”
“Big ships were flying over the warehouse, we had everyone on high alert for a bit, but they were hauling big slabs of it, and kind of slapped it together like a jigsaw. They’d been doing work around there in the buildings for a while, though.”
“Their capability to level what was and build something hideous in its stead is almost admirable. I’ll task Vendetta with scoping it out more closely, and evaluate our options from there.” I mentally logged it to the ever-growing list of ‘things to do’ once I arrived at warehouse base.
Larry grunted in approval and the van rumbled through the green, rolling us back onto the highway, long square shadows cast by the streetlights emerging and then shrinking toward the van’s dim headlights as we rolled down the highway.
“What’s with your hair?” Larry asked, taking his eyes off the road to look me over. “You look like you went to a wedding.”
I turned the mask over in my gloved hands, looking down into it, examining its every crevasse, its every curving slope and sudden plunge. My eyes lingered on the two lenses, my portal to the world as Emperor. Staring into the bottom of it felt like looking into a casket, a filigreed container in the shape of ‘me.’ I’d poured how much of myself into this? Would it be enough to hold all that I was?
“Undercover assignment went- well, kind of wrong.”
“Wrong, how?” He asked- his tone wasn’t accusatory, just…something else.
“Cover’s intact at least for now, but I’m worried I might have slipped up,” I tried to put up a front, keep my voice level, but it didn’t fool Larry. I never seemed to be able to.
“What’s going on? Is everything alright?” Larry never used too gruff a tone when he was around just me, and I could hear his concern…but it wasn’t for the revolution. He was concerned for me.
I flipped the mask back around in my hands and gazed into the dark eye sockets, barely able to see the tinted lenses at all within the shadow. “Not really. I…kind of…I don’t know how many days I’ll have as Elias. I bumped into Myrrah.”
“That Interior Agent we let go? Isn’t she supposed to be up in space finding those kidnapped kids, and bringin’ ‘em back? The heck’s she doing, bumping into you?”
I cleared my throat, suddenly finding it dry. “It was accidental. Coincidental, more, I’m sure- well, it both was, and wasn’t. Someone…tried to sell me into slavery, you know, as Elias,” more words than seemed wise to let come tumbling out threatened to burst out, so I cut myself off for a second with an inhale. “So, you know, kind of topical.” I certainly wasn’t going to mention my association with the Raktens or their involvement, either.
He seemed to digest that for a few seconds, his face blank, but I could hear the steering wheel creak under his hands like he was squeezing the life out of it. The van rocked as the soft suspension went over the deep potholes of this neglected, one-time industrial side of town, and he took in a long, slow breath. “Well, you’re here, so it can’t have gone well for them, right?” He looked me over again, appraisingly. “At least this time you’re coming back dressed. That’s good, cause I didn’t bring a roll of paper towels with me this time.” Larry was attempting to lighten the mood, but my total lack of answers probably wasn’t encouraging. Still, he tried another one. “Well, saves me the two bucks. That extra-absorbent stuff doesn’t come cheap.”
He frowned at my lack of response, just as we made it to the warehouse. Larry set us in along the fenced-off breaker boxes on the edge of the overgrown lot, shrouded in darkness. He put the van in park, but didn’t kill the motor.
“Are you alright?”
“I could use an ice cream,” I managed, hoarsely.
“What happened?”
“Myrrah got him- the guy who was trying to do the slaving. Problem is…he was trying to get me, and I pointed it out- and had to tell Myrrah who I was before she’d listen to me. So…he knows my face and name as Elias. She knows I was there as Emperor- even though I kept my face hidden.”
Larry reflected on that for a few seconds, doing the same mental calculation I did. Then, he didn’t say anything. He just flicked the ignition off and undid his seatbelt, shuffled over the grease-stained front bench seats, and wrapped me up in a hug.
I dropped the mask when he hugged me, and I held him right back. “-Think… I think that’s it for me, you know. As…the me you knew. Soon, I’m gonna have to be Emperor, and that’s it.”
He didn’t let go. “Not to me you won’t.” He said quietly. “I know that’s not much. I’m still sorry to hear it,” he added, sympathizing. “No one- no one will ever doubt your commitment to the cause. For what you’ve done- to try and get those boys back. You’re a damned hero. But you’re also a damn fool. I want to yell at you- because…because…” he looked at me, and I saw something in those eyes. Something haunted. “I don’t want to lose you, too.”
“You won’t,” I promised the old man. He’d taught me so much. Guided me. Vouched for me. He’d helped me get into this position- I owed it to both of us to make sure he wouldn’t hate himself for it. “I’ve got time, for at least as long as it takes for Myrrah to get back the last noble hostage in exchange for a boy she rescues. If I renege on the deal and she knows my name- then she’ll either just up and kill me, or tell the Shil’vati brass everything she knows about us, and it’s probably a lot- or at least, enough for the Shil’vati to probably mount some ill-fated rescue mission, and a lot of people will die.”
“And we can’t kill her?” I didn’t say anything to that, so he sheepishly added. “You know, just…I care about you a whole lot more than I do her.”
“Maybe if we could find her, but there isn’t much we could do to that end,” I admitted. “Right now, she’s got me over a barrel.”
“What’ll happen next, then?”
“Well, this place won’t be long for the world,” I said, looking over at the old warehouse looming against the dim night sky. “I don’t know if we can trust it- she’s perceptive, might’ve heard the commuter train. It runs what, twenty miles through the state? Forty? She’d just need to check out where it runs, put some other pieces together- the foghorns at the port, or if she overheard some music from a festival at the waterfront, and from all that, they could have a pretty good idea where we are, and they’ll come knocking as soon as we release the last hostage. And then what? The walls of this thing aren’t even bulletproof, much less able to withstand any kind of assault. Its main benefits to us were that it was out of the way, out of the elements, but still easy for everyone to get to. We didn’t really have money for anywhere else. But now we’ve got money, and a more secure place to hold the hostages.”
“Camp Death?”
“Camp Death, among other candidates.” I confirmed. “I’m thinking, we’ve got the money to hide them just about anywhere. We’ve already moved the vast bulk of our armament up there, I say we get ready to make it the new HQ- at least until we've got more reliable safe houses set up. Camp Death's a bit more fortified, and will work nicely to discourage some ill-minded rescue attempt. Besides, if we get more hostages- it'd be good to have somewhere to store them.”
“I don’t see any big problems with the idea idea. You’ve already started fortifying the place. Hog Harley looks ready to start eating chrome over you holding on to the hostages this long, though.”
“He can hold on a little longer, at least until the newest layer of concrete dries,” I said mildly. “We can’t renege on the deal, and at any rate, I think we won’t have to hold on to them much longer, whatever the outcome. Things are accelerating quickly. Myrrah will probably procure kids by the dozen. maybe we can start making other demands if we end up taking new hostages. Then, once we've started releasing nobles on a 1:1 basis, Azraea won’t have a leg to stand on to not deal with us for cash on the other prisoners. Not that we’re hurting for money, but…well, it might open them to taking me seriously.”
“And you’re comfortable with that? If you think they aren’t or haven’t so far, then, well, that could really make this whole thing we’re doing a lot more dangerous.”
“I’m just- I want to be taken seriously, but I don’t want them to take me so seriously that they overreact, that they just start raking the state end-to-end with orbital strikes, you know? It’s a hard line to walk. But it’s like that’s the one thing they won’t do. I’m either, like, Space Hitler to them, or…or…”
“Or what? What makes you think you aren’t being taken seriously?”
“I’ve read their media on me,” I muttered under my breath. “To those stationed here, they at least know I’m deadly serious- at least, some of them do. To the galaxy at large, though? I’m some sort of…’himbo’.”
Larry startled, then started howling with laughter. “Himbo!” He slapped the old cracked vinyl dashboard and then doubled over wheezing. “Oh Jesus, I needed to hear that. I’m sorry, I know you take yourself very seriously- we do, too, else we wouldn’t have followed you into half the messes we’ve done so far. But that is funny.”
“I guess.” It didn’t seem that funny to me. “I think…Vern- sorry. Jules was right. Did you hear anything from Radio or him about how ‘Media Blitz’ is going?”
“I haven’t, they’ve only been at it a day or so, but I think they’re probably on their way back already, they’re on the roster to take up watch tonight.”
“Good,” I was genuinely pleased to hear the news. “It has been…quite a day.”
“Yep.” Larry grumbled.
“Got a burner for me?”
“All set,” he handed me the phone. “Plugged into that network Binary made for us.”
“Sweet.” I punched in the number I had memorized and hit ‘call,’ noting a weird series of ringtones.
“Miskatonic.” The voice on the other end sounded distant, and the speaker was obviously tired, performing a perfunctory greeting. From the high pitch, unless they were using a voice scrambler, I hadn’t caught the head of the organization.
“This is Emperor,” I kept my own steady, helped by the urgency.
“Ah-” the person on the other end of the line seemed to force herself awake. It felt like it was an acknowledgment of my power, that I held some importance. “How can I help you?”
“We dealt you a corpse earlier this year. We need it back.”
“That’s a highly unusual request.”
“It’s an important one.”
“You are aware we have buried it?”
“Well, dig it up. We’ll do it, if need be.”
“There may be evidence left behind on the corpse of what we’ve been doing,” she cautioned me.
“Then it’ll need to be burned,” I said simply.
“Hm…” she pondered my words. “That would help, but has already been done, to a somewhat limited point- and it has been buried, which generates its own problems that will need cleaning.”
“We’ll pressure wash them, then, and call the burning a cremation,” I waved a hand in the air at no-one. “What matters is that we make certain the bones are theirs.” I heard an unhappy grumble on the other end of the line. “I will pay handsomely for the effort- and I have...” did I dare give up my omni-pad from Natalie? They coveted alien tech. No. Once again, the smart move, to ensure cooperation, was not the one I could bring myself to do. “...A million.”
A pause, and then, “Alright. We’ll need time. How much of the body do you need?”
“The complete skeleton, and fast- as in, tonight.”
They seemed to weigh it, before sighing. “That will cost you.”
“We’ll pay,” I answered immediately.
Another pause. “Which corpse was it?”
“It was the one we sent early summer, along with the assistant to help make amends. Do you remember?”
“You have sent us many corpses,” she pointed out flatly. “However, yes, I believe I know the one.”
“Make certain it is the correct corpse. They will all but certainly check, and the consequences may be dire.”
“What game are you playing?”
“A human boy’s corpse was returned, and we have a corpse to exhume and return to the Shil’vati in exchange. It wouldn’t do for us to return a live one for a dead one. The idea is…well, it’s complicated.”
“Why not simply make a corpse of a prisoner, and send that?” She asked, and I forced myself to remember that members of Miskatonic typically didn’t see things the same way we did.
“That is a possibility,” I contended. “However, we would regard safeguarding a future safe return of a live child worth the cost of the corpse. We need it as soon as humanly possible- it’s something of an emergency.”
“We’ve buried them in a mass pit, and the Shil’vati are on high alert. There is also the matter of sorting which femur belongs to which corpse. This will all take time.” When I didn’t have an answer that would provide more information, the voice on the other end emitted a noise indecipherable in the crackle of static. “We will do it, provided you forgive the trespass and attempted strike on Delaware soil, plus the agreed upon payment.”
What attempted attack? Were the Shil’ having to contend with something Miskatonic had done? I glanced over at Larry, who shrugged. It hadn’t happened while I was gone, at least.
“Deal.”
“Do you need an assistant?” I wasn’t sure who was at the warehouse- the patched in phone landline for the warehouse was running a rather interesting voip setup, or so I’d been told, being re-routed and scrambled over and over, back and forth. Every call we’d made from there even sounded like it was far away.
“I’ll dig it up myself if you need it so badly,” they snapped. “Meet at the usual place. See you in four- no, five hours.” The line went dead.
Larry looked over at me, eyebrow raised. “If there’s still evidence…”
“The cremation should have gotten rid of that- and if they give me trouble over it, maybe I’ll go with pointing out the hell that was the boy’s captivity and final days. That’ll shut them up.”
I checked where Hex liked keeping watch- the twins were absent, again.
I missed her consul. Maybe she’d even have been able to help me with Natalie. I chased the thought from my mind- I’d already suffered once by bringing Emperor into Elias’s life, I didn’t want to double my problems by cross-contaminating back the other way.
