VPS vs dedicated PC (for 12-20 instances of MT4 running EA's)(money no object)
submitted by MasterpieceLate to Forex [link] [comments]
Hi,I have 6 MT4 terminals running an EA bot each, on forexvps.net
, and it's pretty juddery.I am on the basic plan however, and am looking to upgrade to one of the higher sponsored plans (over 15 traded lots per month to quality) on ICMarkets, when they become available.
I am looking to run 12-20 EA's on an equal number of MT4 terminals, and was wondering what the absolute best server out there was (I feel I'd be shooting myself in the foot if I was to penny pinch, so money's not really an issue).
What's the absolute best VPS out there to run almost a couple of dozen instances of MT4?).
And if I was to get a dogs bollocks server, would a dedicated, always on, always connected dogs bollocks PC be a better choice?
HELP! I am looking for any VPS or service I can install an EA with latency below 1ms
So I have an EA and the lower the latency the better it works, it is in the testing period still, but I really need a VPS with the lowest latency possible less than 1ms and even better if 0.50. Anyone can help up, please? submitted by 01412 to algotrading [link] [comments]

Steam Deck vs PC
Windows was always my go to OS. Especially for games. submitted by fragimus_max to SteamDeck [link] [comments]
I slowly adopted many flavors of Linux for development, then realized macOS was a hybrid design/development workstation without the need of a VM or VPS just for a Bash environment.
For many years, Windows was used for gaming at that point but started to basically clone Apple's business model of proprietary glued-in nonsense. Even though I could build a PC at this point, there was very little need for one.
Then, I started using Steam on Ubuntu; eventually tapping into the PC for the purpose of streaming games directly to it.
Now, even though I've used a Windows 10 laptop for years, it's not used much. So I bought a Steam Deck, which can be connected to ANY OS (including Macs, running games that aren't even compatible with macOS.) It's also much more portable for on-the-go gaming without lugging around a 17" laptop and all it's accessories.
With a small power brick for $80, I can now run the Steam Deck for up to ten hours if needed. It's a pretty amazing piece of hardware, that has pretty much rendered my PC EOL unless I'm home and have a nice stretch of time to throw into gaming.
Other than Battle.net and a few other companies, I now see why Valve let EA back in after a bit of ass-kissing. it was an awesome way to make PC gaming mobile without downgrading the experience to a mobile app.
Anyone else experiencing this? As a veteran gamer since the Atari 2600, this seems to me like it's a huge evolution in gaming from someone who remembers stories, pre-Valve, about GabeN being mocked when presenting Doom on a Windows laptop (being told that the mobility was for things like Office.)
Philosophical differences between EA and Platform Architecture?
Hey guys/gals- i'm transitioning into a higher paying echelon of my career and trying to determine what mindset my experience and modality match most closely- enterprise architecture or platform architecture or something that needs more work technically, politically and improved soft skills. submitted by BrainSmoothy to EnterpriseArchitect [link] [comments]
I'm really good at building teams and getting them behind a certain enterprise wide pivot and, for the most part, doing most of the work myself and burning out or automating myself out of a job.
What sorts of differences would be expected in an ea role to that type of 'bullgeek' strategy? Thus far it has not been a sustainable model. Does anyone have any pointers on how to be more inclusive in creating a better inception strategy - e.g. making C level/VPs take on these initiatives thinking it was their idea while still getting credit if it's due?
Rather nebulous question I know. Just doing some discovery.
Am I an oversensitive baby, or is quitting the right thing to do?
Hi everyone. Not quite sure what I'm looking for. Just some advice or validation. I'm a new Executive Assistant (2.5 months) for two VPs. I was an office manageevent manager for 13 years before. I accepted this new position because it seemed different and a good opportunity, and it comes with a pension (a rare thing where I live!) and more money, and my old job was having some financial issues and a change of leadership, making things a bit tough. submitted by UltimatePGN to careerguidance [link] [comments]
I'm not enjoying this new job at all. I couldn't get any answers from anyone from day one. Even though the person who did the job before me was still there, she would always reply, "I don't remember how I did that." After that, she went on personal leave. Disorganization is rampant. When I ask questions, I either don't get answers or get sent on a wild goose chase. My one VP confronted (in a very stern way) me very early on (approximately week 2) about setting a deadline for reviewing some minutes. The senior EA to the CEO assigned me this deadline to have these minutes ready for inclusion in the board meeting package. Despite his quirks and the rough start, things have improved with this VP.
It's the other VP where I'm struggling. Even though I like her, she doesn't always treat me nicely. She is quick to point out what she thinks are my flaws and called my last career as an office manageevents manager a "glorified administrative assistant." Sometimes, when she speaks to me, it feels like she thinks I'm stupid. She messages me on Teams regularly to have me deliver her snacks or come to her office to tell her if her lipstick is too dark or if her hair looks good. I'm an Executive Assistant, not a Personal Assistant, if that makes a difference to the context of my explanation. We're two floors apart, so it's not like crossing a hallway. It takes me away from the tasks I need to get done to take the time to go to her. Also, she complains about everybody and everything in the organization (some of the organization's stuff is justified, it is a big mess, but I find it weird to hear her complaints). However, my biggest problem is that she sends me requests for things (like writing briefing notes or reports) that she won't provide context, information, or history about. Her requests are often misspelled, filled with acronyms, or scattered, so I have no idea what she wants. Whenever I ask for clarification, she either responds with something equally cryptic, unintelligible, or vague. Or, she never responds. This goes on and on and on to the point where I feel stupid for still needing more information, so I give up, muddle through, get it wrong, and then take the brunt of it for "not doing what was requested."
All came to a head this week. I am trying hard to go over and above. Wednesday night, I stayed late to finish some minutes that needed to be reviewed the next day. I ended up getting locked in, not for the first time. My workplace is a former mental health ward, so it has heavy doors and is a bit spooky at night. My biggest issue is that if there were a fire, I would be totally trapped as windows have bars and doors are all reinforced steel. The only way out was through a blocked-off construction zone. I rarely get spoken to in person throughout the day, so nobody knows if I am there or not, they don’t bother to check my floor before locking the building up.
The minutes were approved by three VP’s who later sent them to the CEO, who hated them (although they weren't bad minutes!) Anyway, both my vice presidents messaged me instantly to give me trouble for making the CEO unhappy. It just made my already bad day worse (a few hours earlier, after drinking my coffee, I got two flies in my mouth! Our office is crawling with flies everywhere!) Anyway, long story short, I broke down crying in front of one of my VPs. As mortified as I was, I couldn't help but cry. I have since apologized via email for this.
By chance, today I heard from my old boss who MAY be able to offer me my old job back, though with less pay and without a pension.
Am I being an oversensitive baby by considering quitting? If you were in my position, what would you do? What would you do if you stayed? How would you handle the one VP who is very unclear? Would you take the old job back? I'm feeling really crazy trying to figure out what to do.

So I'm lazy and should be fired so they can hire someone who is willing to work? Message received!

I know this is long. TL:DR at the end.
In the early 90’s I was hired as a junior Macintosh admin for a Fortune 500 company. Around 50 of the employees used Macs. My friend the senior admin got me the job because though I didn’t know Macintosh, I knew C=64 and Amiga very well. Over time my friend got into drugs and his mental health declined to the point where he left the company after a few months of basically zero productivity. When he left, my boss assigned all his support tickets to me and told me to handle as much as I could while he tried to get approval to hire a senior admin replacement. This added about 45 tickets to my existing queue.
Now, I didn’t want them to hire another admin, I wanted that job. By this time I had become fairly good with the Macintosh series and was even Apple certified so I could buy replacement parts. I worked my butt off for weeks to close the tickets I could, starting with the most important customers first. VPs, executive assistants (IMHO the most important people to keep happy), sales people, senior developers and so on. I had to prioritize and many of these tasks had a steep learning curve, but I did my best.
OK, a bit of technical jargon. We were still using the Macintosh SE/30 for a lot of users. This had a built-in 9” black and white monitor. Monitors are measured diagonally from corner to corner and this was a very small monitor. We were starting to purchase the Macintosh IIci for users and giving them a 21” monitor which was 256 grey scale, so, not color, but not black and white. They were nice for the time, especially since color monitors were not yet common for the Mac and were very, very expensive. Also, most of my users used LocalTalk networking which ran over phone wires and worked great but was slow, and I had just started implementing EtherTalk which ran over ethernet cables and was much faster. Both of these things allowed Mac users to print to any printer in the company.
One day I was walking past the administrative assistant who supported my group and also the sales group, I’ll call her Claire. She said that her printer worked but was very slow. I told her I’d take a look but that since it worked it may be a week or two before I could get to it and showed her how she could print to a printer down the hall instead. Not long after my coworker came into my office laughing and asked what I had said to Claire. I told him the story and he said “Oh, she is out there saying if OP doesn’t want to do his job, we should fire him and hire someone who is willing to work.”
Oh, really. Pettiness activated.
Over the course of the next year I worked hard upgrading Mac users to the newer Macintosh IIci models with a 21” greyscale monitor. I also got as many as I could onto EtherTalk so they would have much more network speed. Some people even got the brand new 17” color monitors made by Radius at the time. One person was still on the Macintosh SE/30 with 9” black and white monitor and LocalTalk. Claire.
Additionally, I started looking down the hallway about 50 feet to see when Claire would round the corner to go to the copy room. As soon as she entered the room I’d call her desk number from an outside line and watch her come running out of the copy room, down the hall, around the corner to answer her phone. I’d wait a second or so after she rounded the corner and hang up. I showed my coworker and we had some good laughs. I don’t remember how many times I did this, but it was enough that she asked for our group to install a phone with her extension in the copy room. That’s when I stopped calling.
About a year later the EA to our company president, a lady I really liked and respected, filled in for Claire for a week and she came to me to ask why all the other administrative assistants and most other people had newer Macs with better monitors and faster networks but Claire didn’t. I said “Well, let me tell you a little story…” Soon after Claire came back she became very friendly again every time I walked by her desk. About a week later she had the best hardware I had to offer.
Side note, after about a month after my friend flamed out my boss called me into the office to say he was going to start looking for a new senior admin and asked me how I was handling the load. I was able to tell him I’d closed all but 2 of the tickets he dumped on me but that they were going to take some serious research and would take weeks at best. He gave me a stunned look and said that he was going to promote me and I’d be the only Mac admin, which I was until I left a few years later for a better opportunity.
TL:DR The administrative support person assigned to my group told people I was lazy because I was deluged with work and didn’t have time to look at her slow but functional printer. I left her on antiquated hardware long after ~50 people got new hardware. Oh, and made her do some sprinting for good measure.
